{"id":48018,"date":"2013-10-21T08:22:00","date_gmt":"2013-10-21T08:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/gold-prices-steady-silver-prices-gain\/48011\/"},"modified":"2013-10-21T08:22:00","modified_gmt":"2013-10-21T08:22:00","slug":"gold-prices-steady-silver-prices-gain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/gold-prices-steady-silver-prices-gain\/48018\/","title":{"rendered":"Gold Prices Steady; Silver Prices Gain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - News Links *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"3490797620\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold-price.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"gold price today\">Gold prices<\/a> held steady during Asian trading hours on Monday after clocking biggest weekly gain since last eight weeks on Friday as expectations are widespread that the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/federal-reserve-system-fed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Reserve<\/a> will keep continuing with its gold-supportive economic stimulating measures for the time being. <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"silver price today\">Silver<\/a> prices, meanwhile, edged higher in early trading on Monday.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-48018\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>At last check, gold December futures edged up 0.17% to $1,316.90 an ounce while spot gold added 0.13% to $1,317.49 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p>The SPDR Gold Trust (ETF) (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=GLD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: GLD<\/a>) rose 0.27% in <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/markets\/pre-market\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Premarket Movers\">premarket<\/a> trading to $127.19.<\/p>\n<p>Silver futures gained 0.99% to $22.13 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p>Economists say that the recent government shutdown had heavily weighed on the U.S. economy. It is estimated that 0.6% of the fourth quarter GDP growth has been knocked-off due to the shutdown. Furthermore, the bipartisan deal offers only a short-term solution. Hence, the U.S. economy is not yet out of the woods.
