{"id":48076,"date":"2013-10-23T08:16:00","date_gmt":"2013-10-23T08:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/gold-silver-prices-down-as-dollar-recovers\/48041\/"},"modified":"2013-10-23T08:16:00","modified_gmt":"2013-10-23T08:16:00","slug":"gold-silver-prices-down-as-dollar-recovers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www2.stockmarketwatch.com\/stock-market-news\/gold-silver-prices-down-as-dollar-recovers\/48076\/","title":{"rendered":"Gold, Silver Prices Down as Dollar Recovers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-1408583772585547\";\n\/* SMW - News Links *\/\ngoogle_ad_slot = \"3490797620\";\ngoogle_ad_width = 468;\ngoogle_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/-->\n<\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/gold\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"gold price today\">Gold Prices<\/a> headed southwards during Asian trading hours on Wednesday after gaining about 2% in the previous session as the dollar strengthened while some profit booking also weighed on prices. <a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver-price.aspx\">Silver prices<\/a> also edged lower in early trading on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-48076\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>At last check, December gold futures fell 0.75% to $1,332.50 an ounce while spot gold lost 0.66% to $1,331.16 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p>The SPDR Gold Trust (ETF) (<a href=\"https:\/\/thestockmarketwatch.com\/stock.aspx?stock=GLD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYSE: GLD<\/a>) was down 0.63% in <a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/movers\/premarket\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Premarket Movers\">premarket<\/a> trading to $128.53.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stockmarketwatch.com\/metal\/silver\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"silver price today\">Silver<\/a> futures were down 0.83% to $22.60 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, gold prices clocked sharp gains, hitting a four-week higher level after a weaker-than-expected non-farm payrolls data reignited speculation that the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowfinance.com\/federal-reserve-system-fed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Reserve<\/a> might continue with its gold supportive bond purchase program until early next year. The dollar index fell to its eight-month low while equities also posted moderate gains on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>However, the sell-off pressure on the dollar eased on Wednesday. The dollar Index gained about 0.10%, at last check.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting over fall in gold prices, Jonathan Butler, an analyst at Mitsubishi said, \u201cAs we&#8217;ve seen in the past, some investors are looking for entry points at which to go short, and above 1,330 may be one such level.
