The market&#39;s downward trajectory was primarily driven by the <strong>May Non-Farm Payrolls report<\/strong> released this morning, which revealed that the U.S. economy added <strong>325,000 jobs<\/strong>, far exceeding economist estimates. This robust labor data sparked fears that the <strong>Federal Reserve<\/strong> will delay anticipated interest rate cuts, opting instead for a <strong>&quot;higher-for-longer&quot; monetary policy<\/strong> to ensure inflation returns to its 2% target.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the rising <strong>10-year Treasury yield<\/strong>, interest-rate-sensitive stocks faced significant headwinds. <strong>IBM (<a href=\"\/stock\/IBM\">IBM<\/a>)<\/strong> was the session&#39;s biggest loser, as it was down <strong>2.42%<\/strong>, followed by <strong>Home Depot (<a href=\"\/stock\/HD\">HD<\/a>)<\/strong>, which was down <strong>2.14%<\/strong> due to concerns over mortgage rates. Software giant <strong>Salesforce (<a href=\"\/stock\/CRM\">CRM<\/a>)<\/strong> was down <strong>1.64%<\/strong>, while <strong>Sherwin-Williams (<a href=\"\/stock\/SHW\">SHW<\/a>)<\/strong> was down <strong>1.36%<\/strong>. Even heavyweights like <strong>Microsoft (<a href=\"\/stock\/MSFT\">MSFT<\/a>)<\/strong> felt the pressure, as it was down <strong>0.95%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Conversely, a few blue-chip stocks managed to buck the trend. <strong>3M (<a href=\"\/stock\/MMM\">MMM<\/a>)<\/strong> was the top gainer, as it was up <strong>3.70%<\/strong> following positive litigation settlements. <strong>Nvidia (<a href=\"\/stock\/NVDA\">NVDA<\/a>)<\/strong> remained resilient, as it was up <strong>1.77%<\/strong> on sustained AI optimism.
