The agency reported that all areas of the Gaza Strip are currently facing catastrophic conditions, as heavy rainfall and strong winds have overwhelmed the territory's fragile infrastructure.

Since the onset of the weather system, emergency teams have been inundated with more than 1,500 distress calls from residents seeking protection and rescue. Local authorities confirmed that the first winter rains have already flooded approximately 70,000 tents, soaking bedding and belongings for tens of thousands of displaced Palestinians who have nowhere else to seek shelter.

The humanitarian situation is reaching a breaking point as the Civil Defense appeals to the international community not to turn a blind eye to the escalating crisis. Officials noted that the scale of the disaster far exceeds their current capacity, citing a severe shortage of resources, including the equipment needed to pump out rainwater and fuel to operate emergency vehicles.

In northern Gaza, first responders successfully rescued a young man after the roof of his home collapsed under the weight of the rain, highlighting the ongoing danger posed by structurally weakened buildings. United Nations (UN) figures indicate that nearly 950,000 displaced people are currently living in areas exposed to moderate or high flood risks, with many residing in deteriorating shelters that offer little to no protection against the elements.

The Gaza Municipality further warned that 85% of the city's infrastructure has been damaged by years of conflict, leaving drainage networks unable to handle the accumulation of water. With temperatures continuing to drop, humanitarian organizations are calling for the urgent entry of winter supplies, heavy machinery, and engine oil to prevent a further loss of life during the winter season.

Key Takeaways Gaza Civil Defense received over 1,500 distress calls within the first 12 hours of a severe
